A few years ago, when I joined Cobb and had the pleasure to work with a leadership that was focused on STEM Education, I came to learn about Cobb STEM Distinguished Educator Awards. At the time, I was excited about implementing STEM in my classroom, sharing ideas with my team, and helping my school become STEM certified. I didn’t realize that every task, professional development assignment, and every opportunity to learn and lead within the school and the district, was going to lead to the fulfillment of the STEM Award requirements. Even though our eyes were on getting our school goals met, and we were not counting our points to receive this honor, in the end, everything fell into place. It was a sure win-win.
