Using the Newest to Study the Oldest: How STEAM Facilitates Paleontological Research in the 21st Century
Fossils represent the manifestations of ancient and bygone worlds. Though the role of a paleontologist is to decipher and translate these lost worlds from prehistoric remains, we are discovering new things about Earth's ancient life on a daily basis. The rate of paleontological research and discoveries is exponentially increasing - not simply because of greater interest or number of researchers, but instead because of the power of STEAM. Innovations and collaborations among science, technology, engineering, art, and mathematics is increasing the available resources and making paleontological research, that was previously only figments of scientific imagination, a reality and the next frontiers of the discipline.
