I am incredibly honored to receive the Cobb STEM Distinguished  Educator Award.  I first learned about STEM education, and how important it is to integrate into the classroom, when I matriculated through the KSU MSP Science Endorsement.  I became passionate about bringing STEM education to my students.  As I moved into the STEM Lab teacher position, I wanted to continue to provide high quality STEM instruction for all the students in my building.  The Cobb STEM Distinguished Educator Award kept me focused and accountable to ensuring the best research-based STEM learning for my students.  I never miss an opportunity to bring STEM to life.  I invite many guest speakers to our lab,  as well as coordinate STEM field trips, to show my students the real-world relevance of what they are doing.  I co-founded our school’s first Girls Who STEM club, helped coordinate STEM night, and attended STEM Innovation Academy (district professional learning) to help inspire my peers to implement STEM regularly in their classes. I know by striving for this award, it has done more for my students than I could have done on my own.
