3D Printing BootcampBy: Richard White
K-12 | 12:00 PM - 2:30 PM | Room TBD
This session is designed to give teachers experience assembling, setting up, and maintaining basic 3D printers, similar to what many have in their classrooms. We will start with learning about TinkerCAD and how to create 3D models in TinkerCAD. We will also look at setting up classes and how to get your students engaged in learning to use this tool to create their designs. Teachers will have a hands-on experience assembling a basic Creality Ender 3 3D printer, along with other members of their group. Once assembled, we will look at how to set up and tune the printers for the best print quality, and finally our focus will shift to using the Cura software to print to the printers that we just assembled. We will discuss some safety concerns for these printers in the classroom and look at how those can be addressed. You should walk away more comfortable with the concepts that surround 3D printing and be able to use the skills learned no matter what type/brand printer that you may have.
