Memorial Middle School - Rockdale County

Memorial Middle School is working toward earning STEM Certification.  They were recommended as a school to visit by the GA DOE.  We were very impressed with their students in the STEM program.  A unique feature of MMS is focusing on the research aspect of STEM.  While students do traditional STEM challenges and engage in an enriched STEM curriculum, they also spend a great deal of time research, debating, and presenting their research.  It was quite impressive.  Many of the programs and teacher allotments currently in use at MMS were the result of RT3 funding.

Please view the Padlet below to see the things we observed on our visit.

That's good news! I know that there has been a decline of students wanting to take up STEM because they feel as if it is too hard for them. Remember, there is no such thing as an easy course. You will of course have a hard time, but that is normal. You cannot possibly excel in one subject if you will not exert effort to learn. You have to understand that it takes hard work and determination to be able to become an expert in something.
