Flying WILD – February 25th: $15 (included program materials)
Flying WILD introduces middle-school students to bird conservation through school bird festivals and hands-on classroom activities. Flying WILD helps teachers by providing interdisciplinary, standards-based lessons that engage students in real-world learning. By participating in Flying WILD activities, students will gain opportunities to learn and lead. Half of the activities in Flying WILD are designed to involve students as leaders.
Triple Facilitator workshop – March 16th & 17th: $110 (includes meals, lodging and program materials)
This workshop is for existing Project WET, WILD and Learning Tree educators who wish to become facilitators and lead educator workshops. Join us for a hands-on, minds-on training that is interdisciplinary in approach.
Project Wild Educator workshop – March 25th: $34 (includes lunch and program materials)
This internationally recognized educator workshop dives into the world of natural resource and wildlife conservation through interdisciplinary activities for grade K-12. Project WILD materials have been classroom tested and provide a framework to assist teachers in taking students from an awareness of the nature to responsible actions concerning the environment.
Growing Up WILD – April 15th: 20 (included program materials)
Growing Up WILD: Exploring Nature with Young Children is an early childhood education activity guide that builds on children’s sense of wonder about nature and invites them to explore wildlife and the world around them. Through a wide range of activities and experiences, it provides a foundation for developing positive impressions about nature while also building lifelong social and cognitive skills.
Teacher Conservation Workshop – June 19th-23rd: $50 (included transportation, lodging, meals and program materials)
The Teacher Conservation Workshop is a weeklong workshop that uses the forest as a window to environmental education. Activities are led by foresters, biologists, educators, and industry professionals. This interdisciplinary workshop focuses on the environmental, economical, and social benefits of Georgia’s forestry and wildlife communities. Sessions take place mostly outdoors in the forest and in manufacturing facilities and will demonstrate the cycle of growing trees and managing for wildlife, water and recreation. Participants will be certified in Project WET, WILD and Learning Tree curriculums
Outdoor Wildlife Leadership School (OWLS) – July 10th-14th: $50 (included transportation, lodging, meals and program materials)
OWLS is workshop focused on wildlife management and stewardship for K-12 educators. Participants spend five days immersed in Georgia’s wildlife education via hands on activities and day trips. This workshop is part one of a three part series. Part one is being held July 2017 and will investigate conservation efforts in the upper coastal plain through birding in the Piedmont National Wildlife Refuge, canoeing the Bond Swamp, mist netting bats at Oconee National Forest and exploring bogs at Ohoopee dunes. We will also spend time discussing basic conservation biology concept and field techniques that can be used with students in and out of the classroom.
